Blessings Times Two

Welcome to our little piece of the world. We are blessed with health, happiness, & families. We have been blessed twice by different birthfamilies. Each birthfamily was at a time in their life when they needed us & we needed them. We each have been able to bless the other. So this blog is primarily for our children's birthparents who blessed us with the most precious gift of being parents. Thank you for allowing us to be blessed with the precious gift of children.

What a week....week in review......

Lets back up to last Monday, I took the kids to do a few errands once I got home work decided to just make the dinner hour easier & stop at Burger King for supper (NOT my favorite place to eat-ick) & let the kids burn some steam off.
Between Shayla & Hayden they enjoyed quite a few chicken fingers & then the play area. Once it was time to leave, Hayden DID NOT want to depart at all! It took all my might & both arms with Shayla carrying the diaper bag to make it to the van, phew I was spent.

So we make it to Tuesday...and it starts something like this..........

A bed buddy at 2 a.m., telling me that her tummy hurts & will you rub it. That last off & on until 5 a.m. when yes the upset stomach aka puckies hit.
A bath for Shayla, a load of laundry, cleaned up the puckies/make the bed, some of the kids too small clothes to the basement , Shayla settled into the bean bag & a TV show on & shower for me by 7 a.m. & as well as almost all the way dressed.
Hayden is awake by 7 a.m., first load of laundry in the dryer, second load started. In to get Hayden.........he has taken his pj bottoms off, diaper off & thrown all of that over board the side of the crib....thank GOD it was a just a wet/CLEAN diaper!!!

And I was off to work shortly after everyone was settled........it was a long day until I was able to fall into bed.

Hayden had his weekly speech therapy on Thursday morning. We continue to work on the sign for more when eating. God gave our son quite the temper! He gets so frustrated & likes to throw his head back on the highchair when eating. It makes me want to throw my hands up & say here ya go Little Man eat to your hearts content......but to get his attention we have to continue to do the signing. We are helping him learn to do the sign by doing hand over hand & occasionally Hayden will take our hands to make the more sign.

This week we are adding another activity w/ the more sign...like bubbles, ball rolling, etc. Whatever we can do when he is in the highchair since that is one spot that holds his attention.
Shayla is being such a HUGE helper w/ the more signing, well most days, ;). We praise her helping & spend lots of individual time w/ her after Hayden goes to bed at night.

Friday was the first 'play therapy' group sponsered by LIFT to work on Hayden's other areas of delays. Phew, that was very emotional for me. He threw himself so many times that I lost count, hit me in the face once w/ a fit of frustration on the cheek bone & during the snack time decided that he wanted it all. So I had to hold him back, worked on 'more', he had a huge fit & I had to have a cry. BUT the good thing is that our LIFT worker was there on Friday & saw it, helped me w/this & she comes on Thursday this week.
Hayden is such a precious little soul. It is just hard right now w/ his lack of verbal expression that causes his frustration as well.

Today, he was such a stinker climbing onto the table, helping himself to his sister's lunch, moving a stool to his highchair & climbing in, giving kisses.......so he is the typical ACTIVE 20 month little guy!

Shayla is counting the days til ballet is over as she wants her hair cut then school being over. We've had no spring like weather.....can you say cool & rainy?? It has been quite icky in the recent days.......we've all got cabin fever.
Come on spring you CAN stay for a visit!
Have a great week.
Blessings, Amy
