Blessings Times Two

Welcome to our little piece of the world. We are blessed with health, happiness, & families. We have been blessed twice by different birthfamilies. Each birthfamily was at a time in their life when they needed us & we needed them. We each have been able to bless the other. So this blog is primarily for our children's birthparents who blessed us with the most precious gift of being parents. Thank you for allowing us to be blessed with the precious gift of children.

Friday

Beginning the preparation process of placing Hayden on the ketogenic diet, means many things...…
Like getting rid of some of Hayden's most favorite foods like Nurtigrain bars, snack mix, pretzels, etc. I told Tim that once Hayden has finished what is in the house we will not buy more. Might as well start breaking Hayden now gradually instead of all the sudden.
Like logging EVERY seizure & phone calls to Hayden's pediatric neurologist to say, 'Hey, Hayden is having a significant increase in seizures....Are we going to do anything right now? Like change any meds?"
Like figuring out how to get a urine sample from a kid who isn't potty trained & doesn't go on command.
Like getting the pediatrician group on board for all upcoming visits & future antibiotics, test, flagging Hayden's chart as ketogenic, etc.
Like weaving through the insurance maze to ensure coverage for Hayden's upcoming admission so we won't have any surprise insurance coverage issues.
Like multiple emails to sort out who & were letters of medical necessity need to be sent.
Like reading through 2 books & a packet of information for the days we will spend at Hopkins.
Like gathering supplies to begin preparing Hayden's foods....there are so many little details involved.

I'm going to try very hard to keep our family blog updated with our daily journey while at Hopkins. I hope we have internet connections. Please pray that we will be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house as well. One of us will stay with Hayden in the hospital overnight & the other off site, it would be ideal at the RM house. Shayla will be staying at home with grandparents. We have struggled with leaving her back, but it really is the right thing to do as there would not be anything for her to do (other than homework) and TIm & I have so much to learn in such a short period of time.

I am a HUGE stress eater as well....I have struggled & worked very hard to lose the weigh that I've loss so far. Please keep me in your prayers that I will be able to continue in this journey & not gain any weight.
Off to the treadmill this morning...call week is over, hooray!!
