This weekend I have been doing some prep work for Hayden's admission to Hopkins.
For example:
We have been logging EVERY one of Hayden's seizures.
It is hard to catch those during the night when we are so wiped out from our days of chasing Hayden & doing normal house things, being mom & dad to Shayla as well. But we realize how important this seizure log is for Hayden's new team of neurologist & support staff at Hopkins to find the right mixture of medicines & foods that will hopefully cease or dramatically cut his seizures.
I'm working through these two books....wow, what a lot to know. This along with the 20+ page manuel from Hopkins filled with instructions & what to expect during our 4 day stay there.
Our stash of small containers is forever disappearing. One of the suggestions is to have specific containers for the child...…so, Hayden now has his own supply of containers.
We are working through our stash of crunchy foods & Hayden's favorites carbohydrates....like Nutrigrain bars & pancakes/waffles. Hayden has his own little morning routine (& repeats this at various things of the day too!)...pretty much first thing in the morning Hayden goes to the freezer, pulls it open, puts the box of pancakes/waffles on top of the stove, hands whoever is fixing his breakfast a knife (supervised of course) & waits flapping his hands for the microwave to be finished....I know this transition for Hayden is going to be rough, but we have to remember that we are his parents & feel like this is the best thing for Hayden at this time in his life.
Hayden at his happiest...mouth full of pancakes!!! I really believe that he would eat these 3 times a day if you let him.
