Michelle & I headed to Birmingham mid-Friday morning. We made it in time to hearAngela Thomas the first speaker. So these are the thoughts I took from her talk based on Matthew 14.
- We are all broken souls.
- Christ heals the brokenness
- We have responsibilities to care for our own soul, sometimes we have to leave some things undone to take care of ourselves & that is ok, remember to not compare yourself you others but care for your soul
- Since I am 'the mom', I am required to be the protector of our home not allowing ANY darkness in our house
- I gotta live in the light of Christ & shine the light of Christ into the fire
- "Be the Sunshine"
Session 2: I was so excited to hear this momma speak. I had accidentally stumbled upon her blog about a year or so ago...so, of course I had read all about her precious family & her struggles over the last 4 years. And when I first learned about this conference & noticed that Angie Smith was going to be one of the speakers...I was hooked into going to the conference.
Angie's talk triggered my thoughts about all sorts of things, especially accepting fear of the unknown. How perfect for me!! I mean seriously---Tim & I have not had the ability of changing things in our life, we have had to accept many unknowns in marriage. God has blessed us with these challenges & the fears we have accepted head on.
- A huge hello moment for me...'Don't have to all to be perfect', I have tried to manage our house, kids, everything---it doesn't work & finally this year I have accepted this. I can only do as I can do safely & I have to take care of myself too for our family
- We have to go into the deep, it isn't safe--but that it is what Christ needs us to do because it is putting us out there & we have be uncomfortable sometimes in the deep waters
- I need to listen for my motivation...go deep, teach my children that they have to swim into the deep waters because staying in the shallow end is moving away from the safety net.
Stay tuned for part 2 later....
