- Phone call early this morning alerting us that Hayden's upcoming admission to John Hopkins would be out-of-network & on arrival, should we decide to proceed, would require a big chunk on change--think the cost of a small car...but seriously, would we not do this admission for the ketgenic diet at the chance that it will cease Hayden's seizures & all us to dwindle his seizure meds??!
- Phone call next to a case manager at our insurance company—Hayden had been assigned one oh, 2 years go...I tucked the letter away & we trucked along managing things ok...but now, HOLY COW BATMAN!!! I initially called about 3 weeks ago, Hayden was reassigned to a new case manager & today finally I was able to make contact w/this person...she was my go to person today, a true God sent moment. Insurance is Greek to me...let me give care to people...insurance is totally confusing! Bless this young lady's heart...she walked me through exactly what we needed to get done TODAY, what faxes needed to be sent, what the faxes needed to say, etc.
- I sent multiple emails with detailed information & then I decided I was done for the day! And then it was time to turn it all over to God & pray!
This afternoon while Hayden was in OT/Speech session, I got the best call—Hayden's case manager was able to get his case pushed through, & was able to get a conference call TODAY with everyone & BAM—we have prior authorization, for one night, haha! The ketogenic diet admission is for 4 days/3 nights, guess Hopkins will be busy each day we are there getting the next day authorized. I will be calling Hopkins tomorrow to get the low down on our exact expected payment, etc.
Today we started Hayden's food diary intake record...oh my goodness! It is hard to keep up with every morsel that goes into his mouth for the next 3 to 4 days.
Phew..I'm wiped out! And now I head to bed...
