First it was Shayla day Dec 13. Our Shayla.......that first year was so hard & such a blur! We fought so hard to keep her in our lives. And now, the years just keep flying by as well. Got to talk with her birthmom the day before Shayla day---it was so great to talk w/ her & so reassuring too. Our conversation are far & few between but still good.
Shayla had decided that she wanted her hair straightened & cut--picture above is before the hair cut & below is after following the children's Christmas program at church.
I was off the week of Shayla day & what a busy week it was. Lots of errands ran that week that can't be accomplished while I'm working during the day. Even managed to observe 2 different preschool programs that Hayden could be eligible to attend once we get all of his IEP stuff squared away. Hayden had another neurology appt, meds were changed around & a long talk was had w/ his neurologist about some concerns that we have for Hayden.
It was an off & on week for Hayden as well as he was hit w/ seizures in the wee hours of the mornings up through Christmas day. Shayla was so excited & it was hard to not see Hayden as excited as her. We enjoyed a quite afternoon before heading over to my parents for the evening.
The 2 days after Christmas were mass basement clean out & organization. My sister was able to help w/ this project, my dad took 2 truck loads of junk to the dump & one load to good will, while Tim took another van load to goodwill....the end result is an organized & cleaned basement as well as a play area for Hayden. It is a project in motion that will continue to take time (& money) to finish, but hopefully this area will aid Hay-Hay boy in his learning needs as we approach the ABA style to help with his autism spectrum needs. Sorry no pictures for this project--thought about it too late for the before & after shots...not to mention I am pooped. Lots of busy days of redirecting energy for Hayden & figuring out what to try next.
As 2007 comes to a close, we have learned lots about ourselves, what is important to us as a family how to protect our children, how to be advocates for our son who needs that so much, & focusing how to make the most out our lives.
We appreciate our family, the help & support they provide b/c some days we just couldn't do it w/out them.
Praying that 2008 brings smiles, giggles & 'Momma'
xoxo, Amy
