Blessings Times Two

Welcome to our little piece of the world. We are blessed with health, happiness, & families. We have been blessed twice by different birthfamilies. Each birthfamily was at a time in their life when they needed us & we needed them. We each have been able to bless the other. So this blog is primarily for our children's birthparents who blessed us with the most precious gift of being parents. Thank you for allowing us to be blessed with the precious gift of children.

Weekend events.....

Saturday was our area's AUTISM 5K run/walk.  This was our second year to participate in this walk.  We named our team Hayden's Heroes last year. Last year, I didn't try to raise money instead I just put up a flier at work stating we were walking to raise awareness for AUTISM & my co-workers started giving me money...last year we were able to turn in $350 for the Shenandoah Valley Autism Partnership to use for scholarships, trainings & respite, therapies, safety or sensory equipment.  I decided this year our family goal should be $1000.  Tim & I posted Hayden's story at work, emailed friends/family & I talked to everyone at work....we were humbled by the amount everyone donated.

We turned in $1785!!

Pappa & Hayden

The weather was terrible Saturday!  But the run/walk went on rain or shine.  Tim, Dad & I walked the race.  The grandma's & kids stayed in the gym with the kids...Hayden doesn't handle the cold weather & Shayla was being a typical pre-teen so we left her behind too.  I have been working toward this goal for several weeks, trying to build up to running & walking fast.  I was able to run parts of the race & walk the rest of the race...I shaved about 7 minutes off of last years time, YEAH, me!!!  This is HUGE for me as I've never been a runner.

The wet ones...all the way wet!  YUCK, so glad I took clothes to change into!

Post race 2011....Thank you everyone for helping us help others affected by AUTISM.

A great morning with family & a gym full of other people.

Sunday morning we woke to glorious SUN verses Saturdays rain, wind & tornados!
Church services were beautiful today!  We were concerned about Hayden going to church given his history this past week of falling asleep & having seizures....so we kept Hayden with us.  This was a first for us since Hayden was a wee baby & it went fairly well.  He made it through Sunday School & did well.

Tim & I spent the ENTIRE afternoon fixing Hayden's meals for the week.
We have breakfast, lunches, & snacks fixed... took at least 4+ hours, but it's done.  You can't even begin to image how time consuming the preparation is for a meal unless you are deep in the ketogenic diet.  This video does a pretty good job explaining things....The Sam Special---A Dad's cooking session.
But it's all worth it.

Have a great week! Forging into a new week.
