Blessings Times Two

Welcome to our little piece of the world. We are blessed with health, happiness, & families. We have been blessed twice by different birthfamilies. Each birthfamily was at a time in their life when they needed us & we needed them. We each have been able to bless the other. So this blog is primarily for our children's birthparents who blessed us with the most precious gift of being parents. Thank you for allowing us to be blessed with the precious gift of children.

End of week

More planning for Hayden's next school year this past week. His VNS implant is causing distress among the school staff.....we understand the need to have a full plan of action to keep Hayden safe during potential seizure activity. But man, oh man they seriously stress me out. One of the health care staff members understands my de-stress. And that is a good thing...everything will work out & be fine but in the mean while, geeze Louise! However, we made a plan that will 'work' until the fall & will readdress the concerns in August. And hopefully, Hayden's IEP will all fall into place especially now that his pediatrician & developmental pediatrician have concerns about some of our same concerns & are willing to support us with letters....things might move along now.

Hayden had his VNS turned on THursday afternoon. We haven't seen much improvement in seizure activity YET---but the settings are very are low. We will make weekly trips to Hayden's neurologist to have adjustments made to his VNS settings at least for the next month.

Hayden went out of school on Friday with a bang....He had a full blown seizure at school. Of course I wasn't in town---but Tim was able to go pick him up, avoided a 9-1-1 call that the school almost made & reassured his classmates as they left. Hayden was doing ok when he left school just really tired from the seizure.
There are times that Hayden goes through seizure cycles...& he is in one now. It's a rough spot to be in & it makes family life difficult.

I was able to go with Shayla on a field trip Friday. We started the day early & boarded the bus to ride to Jamestown & Williamsburg. OMGosh, it was so hot! There was sweat in places that shouldn't have sweat. It was nasty hot!!! But Shayla was excited that I was able to go & I was happy to make that memory with her. I was just very glad when the bus pulled back into the school parking lot.

Call hours start in the morning. It will be a busy week aside from call hours---doc appts, school finishes, start vacation planning & packing.
